We at Kondanani operate an orphanage called "Caring Hands Infant Home". Here 58 orphaned babies up to the age of 4 are lovingly cared for by Malawian nannies. Whilst in our care these babies are given love, food, psychological and spiritual care.
Caring hands started out in a dilapidated house in the suburbs of Blantyre.
Our heavenly Father provided the finances to renovate the house and make it into a children's paradise and loving home. Through the generosity of many people we were able to furnish the home.
On the 7th of November 1998 the first baby arrived, her name was Deborah. Deborah's story is typical of the orphans we receive. Her grandfather had lost all his children to AIDS and was unable to care for her by himself. She was our little queen and very regal. But the HIV virus took it 's toll on her and in July 1999 she passed away into the arms of Jesus.
After Deborah arrived at Caring Hands, the word spread and the babies started arriving at our doors. God kept providing for our needs and has continued to do so ever since.
We were fast running out of room and so we needed to find larger premises. God provided and we have now moved "Caring Hands" to a much larger building. "Caring Hands" is a beautiful home in pleasant surrounds, we have a play school for the bigger children with teachers who have been trained for the task all set in lovely gardens. Our Nannies are on duty day and night. We sow the seed of the Word into their lives as one of the main ingredients of their upbringing. We want to see them develop as an asset to their community and this continent and by the grace of God we WILL.
We have many healthy children and though some are lost we aim to give them the best years on earth before they go to the Heavenly nursery. The staff of 50 is many as taking care of so many small children is very labour intensive. The costs are high to achieve our goals and our greatest needs are sponsors. For each one of our children the cost is $80 per month. Please contact us if you Can help.
